A3C, Vol. 2

This is the second compilation from the heads behind the Atlanta-based hip-hop conference A3C (All 3 Coasts), and it differs from the first edition in one major way: with a few exceptions, almost every act here is unknown or up and coming. There's a small handful of bigger names (Slum Village, Mistah F.A.B., Cunninlinguists, Smoke DZA, and Freeway), but the vast majority of these 42 tracks feature cats you've likely never heard of. Luckily, the A&R rep has done a commendable job, cherry-picking some of the most promising would-be rap stars from countless wannabes. Standouts include the harp-and-handclap jam "Victory" by OCD: Moosh & Twist, the synth-driven "It's Alright" by Reek Da Villain, and "One Man Alone" with Ro Spit and Michigan favorite One Be Lo. Whether any of the acts here will make the big time remains to be seen, but some definitely have what it takes.
